I suggest the production of a t-shirt series with the japanator.com logo and possibly an otaku-related theme for the members of the site. The t-shirt must sutisfy the two following condition 1) a simple and attractive design and 2) to be in low cost (less than 10$ or about 10$), so every user to be able to buy such one. What about that idea?

I think it would get more publicity to people who only go on Destructoid for games, or Tomopop for toys, after all people have multiple interests, but they may not be aware of the sister sites. It would consist of linking related JTOR articles on the frontpage of Destructoid, Go West! For example. This would go both ways with all the sites of course.

I would love to see once in a while reviews or at least recommendations of good, successful Japanese books that were translated in English language. The genre could be everything from romance to sci-fi..

With so many big franchises out there, it's easy to lose track of stuff being released. I don't know how it would be done, but I'd like a way to find out when things belonging to a specific franchise come out. For example, I might subscribe to Gurren Lagann to find out when the Blu-Rays finally come out, or Cave Story to find out if they ever release that Quote statue, or to Metroid to find out if there's any posters or figures coming out.

Maybe some kind of tag-based direct email notification system?

Well I try to write blogs, and I hate to sound selfish because I might just be bad, but I see my blogs, along with most others with 3 or under comments, and some of those are me reading others posts out of courtesy, just seems like a waste of some well written stuff
Bloggers wanted was a nice touch, but perhaps a rewards system to bloggers, or just do more featured blogs.
